A fire destroyed a home at at 3140 Wayne Ridge Road Thursday morning around 10 a.m. The Wayne Township/Duncan Falls and Harrison Township Fire Departments were called to the scene of the blaze. The home was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the home. The South Zanesville Fire Department was also called to the scene of the fire to help fight the blaze. Wayne Township/Duncan Falls Captain Sam Smith says one member of the family was home at the time of the blaze and suffered a cut to the arm. Smith the he was awakened by a neighbor that his house was on fire and pulled to safety. He then went back into the house to try to save 3 cats and a dog and suffered the cut. He drove himself to Good Samaritan Hospital for stitches. Smith says it is not known if the animals were saved. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no dollar estimate in damage has been determined.
