Dillon Falls Store is hosting its first-ever catfish tournament Friday at 7:00 p.m. Fishermen can register at Riverside Park's boat ramp which is where the tournament will kick-off.
"We just tell everybody to go there, sign-up showing that they're gonna be in it. They can fish all night. At 7 O'clock, make sure to bring in their two biggest fish, we'll weigh them in at that time," said Kathy McCann, owner of Dillon Falls Store.
McCann says the one big difference about this tournament is that it's bank only. That means no boats and you can only cast your lines on the banks of the river from the Y-bridge on down. The cost is $20 for a two-man team and $12 for individuals.
"First place payout is 60% of the money, second place, 40% and then we have a $5 big fish, for the biggest fish caught during the night."
The 12-hour tournament runs through the night, which McCann says is usually the best time to catch catfish, and will end at 7:00 a.m. Saturday.
