Shovels were in tow for the ground breaking ceremony of a local bank.
The Peoples Bank will move from their current location on Zane Street to Maple Avenue. The Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce, bank employees and the media were all present at the event. President and CEO of Peoples Bank, Chuck Surlerzyski says that the bank proceeded with the move after talking with community members.
"We did a lot of discussions with our own customers, and also with prospects, and the local businessmen in town trying to figure out where would be best for us to be located and they helped us choose the site," said Surlerzyski.
The bank invested 1.3 million dollars into the project. The new branch will provide the same services as its prior location and additional uses such as a business night drop off, 24 hour ATM machine and multiple drive thru lanes. The president says he expects to see more business on Maple Avenue.
" We're real excited about it. This location puts us right in the heart and center of commerce here in Zanesville, so we think it will be better for the community and better for us too," said Sulerzyski.
The Peoples Bank will be ready to open to the public in November and they say they welcome the community to come out and see the new changes.
