On Saturday, July 27, 10 to 15 Zanesville churches will be cleaning up parts of downtown Zanesville and the historic Putnam area as a service project and as a way to give back to the community by making it a cleaner place to live.
"We will gather at the New Life bridge building which is the former Jack Havana's and then we will go out. Most of the people will have on blue t-shirts that say, 'the church has left the building.' So were not about any church, we're about showing God's love to the community," said Kathe King, of Rolling Plaines United Methodist Church.
This will be the 7th year for Servefest. King says in the past there have been hundreds of volunteers and this year, she's hoping for the same.
"If anybody would like to join us, they can meet us down at the Life bridge building on Muskingum Avenue at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27th if they'd like to help."
If you're interested in doing more than cleaning up, King says there will be a planning meeting on Monday, July 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Bethel Mission in Zanesville.
