Zanesville Man Sentenced to Prison

A man charged in connection with a major drug investigated is going to prison. The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says that 38-year-old Benjamin Ortiz of Zanesville went before Common Pleas Judge Mark Fleegle and was sentenced to 8 years in prison. In May Ortiz pleaded guilty to a prosecutor’s bill of information on charges of trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs and having a weapon while under a disability. Authorities arrested Ortiz May 7th at the Sheetz gas station in South Zanesville following months of investigation by the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office and the Zanesville Police Department. The investigation resulted in the seizure of more than $200,000 worth of methamphetamine and marijuana.
