Members of Delta Kappa Gamma's Muskingum University chapter sold gently used clothing, household items and more to raise money for future educators at their annual yard sale.
"The proceeds for the sale will end up going to scholarships we provide scholarships for students from Muskingum County that are going into education, majoring in education. And we give these scholarships out while they're doing their student teaching," said Cindy Lawyer, past President of Delta Kappa Gamma, Muskingum University Chapter.
All of the items were donated and Lawyer says last year, they raised $1,500 and were able to award three, $500 scholarships. She says this year, she's hoping to raise more money to provide more scholarships.
"Last year was our first year and they were real hesitant. They didn't really think it would go but it was so successful, I'm hoping we'll be able to do it every year. We've been very fortunate to have it and to be able to help the community. Especially students in education."
The yard sale continues tomorrow in the Veterans Building at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds from 8:00-1:00 p.m.
