The Music Man found his way to a stage in Zanesville in honor of the person the Renner Theater is named after.
Dorothy Renner turned 95 years old and to celebrate her birthday, the theater ran her favorite production, The Music Man.
"Harold Hill, traveling salesman comes to River City and has to get the town out of serious trouble that it's in, but the only problem he can come up with is that they have a new pool table. The reason he wants to get them out of trouble is because he wants to buy band instruments, " said Co-Director, Caitlin Staker.
The Co- Directors of the play are a mother daughter duo. Staker says she has other family members participating in the play including a father, a sister, and a brother . Both directors agree that one of their favorite parts of the production is knowing that Mrs.Renner enjoys it.
"The fact that we are doing this in honor of Mrs.Renner. We worked with Mrs. Renner for many years and she's just a very dear person to my heart and it's fun to bring this back to life just for her," said Co Director, Melissa Staker.
The cast features actors and actresses from ages five to 85. If you missed the play this Sunday, it will be on again next week. The shows will be next Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and there will be an early show on Sunday at 2:30. For more information or ticket prices give the play house a call.
