The accident happened just after 4 p.m. Monday afternoon between Samara and Lovers Lane in Washington Township. Lt. Matt Boyd of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says three motorcycles were heading back to Cleveland after sight seeing in Muskingum and Morgan Counties. They were traveling northbound on SR 93 when the third motorcycle, traveling behind the other two, crashed into a Ford pickup truck.
Lt. Boyd said, "A motorcycle and a southbound pickup truck collided. The motorcycle went off of the east side of the roadway and the rider was ejected. The rider has been taken to Good Samaritan Genesis south emergency room with serious physical injuries."
The driver of the pickup truck had minor injuries and was treated by the Washington Twp. Fire Department. No names were given and Lt. Boyd says he's unsure about what caused the accident.
"We don't want to stipulate a cause at this time. We are still investigating that," said Lt. Boyd. "We have our crash reconstruction unit involved to help us with the scene and the Ohio Department of Transportation is going to help us with the traffic along with Washington Township Fire Department."
Lt. Boyd says the driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet.
