The big winners at the Highway 103 Texaco Country Showdown have just weeks to prepare for the state competition.
The local band Double Cut advanced to the finals in Marietta after winning big during competition on Saturday. They beat eleven other competitors to take home the first place trophy. The group said just advancing to the next round means a lot.
"It's more or less a dream come true," said Band Member Daniel Spiker. "It's something we all want to do. It's something we're stepping towards. Hopefully in the right direction."
Logan Addis added, "The way I look at it all the years and hours that we've individually put in on each of our instruments I think is all kind of added up to having an opportunity like this, just kind of what it's all about."
Band members hope that the amazing fan support continues and they gain more along the way.
"There's no words for that one," said Kevin Beach. "Incredible is an understatement. These people have been behind us from day one. We keep building on it and I just couldn't imagine not having the support. We really appreciate it."
"I'm looking forward to getting to play in front of a crowd," added Landon Tom. "Hopefully we gain some more fans."
The State Texaco competition takes place on September 2 at the Washington County Fair at 6:30. If the band wins there they'll advance to regionals.
Locally, the band next performs at the Dresden Melon Festival on August 24.
