It's time for your barbecue taste buds to get fired up because the tenth annual Ribfest is right around the corner!
This labor day weekend, on Friday and Saturday nights from four to midnight, rib vendors will provide flavor-filled eats for meat lovers to enjoy and attendees get to decide which vendor is the best.
"We have vendors, we have twelve rib vendors and then we have a rib cook off,” said Ribfest Chair, Ernest Bynum. “Then on Saturday, we have a People's Choice who people think are the best ribs and then we also have first place, second place, third place in the rib tasting. I wouldn't say which one is good, they all seem good to me."
The annual festival is sponsored by The Minority Business Resource Network of Southeastern Ohio and the money raised goes towards a good purpose.
"Oh sure, the money that's raised, we do scholarships, The Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation Scholarship, we give individual book scholarships to different kids and stuff and that's what we continue to do."
This year's Ribfest has a new venue, moving from downtown Zanesville to the Muskingum County Fairgrounds, which means more room to eat and to park. There will be live entertainment both days and family fun activities, including the chance to meet Oinkers, the mascot of the event.
