Governor Kasich made a stop by the new Fanatics facility in the ECO Business Park in Frazeysburg on Thursday, to celebrate the announcement of hundreds of new job opportunities with the e-commerce company. Gov. Kasich acknowledged Senator Troy Balderson, State Representative Brian Hill and the Muskingum County Port Authority's, Mike Jacoby, for their contributions in helping to get the company to open up their new distribution center right here in Muskingum County.
"What happens here is, when we get these nibbles from companies that want to come here, we bring JobsOhio, they'll come out here and they will work with local economic development and meet with the company," said Gov. Kasich. "And we say, 'Ok, what is it you're looking for?'"
The distribution center will add to the more than 174,000 jobs created in Ohio over the past two years. Kasich says this is the step in the right direction and that other companies will follow.
"We're beginning to see this part of the state do much better. But on any of these economic nibbles, any of these things where we think we can get a job, we rush in as first responders and try to figure out whether we can win. So this is a good win."
Fanatics co-founder Brent Trager, says the community has been great to the company and says he's excited and fortunate, to be a new addition to the community.
"The Frazeysburg area represents economic opportunity for us to support our business for the northeast and midwest customers that we have," said Trager. "We ship directly to customers to their door and this represents a unique opportunity to deliver fast and provide the workforce that we need to do that."
Fanatics is an online retailer of licensed sports merchandise and their peak season is during the holiday's. That means they're looking for almost 1,000 seasonal employees and about 300 full time employees. You can go online to www.fanaticsinc.com to apply.
