10th Year for Annual Rib Fest

Locals came out to the Muskingum County Fairgrounds to enjoy finger licking good barbeque at the annual Rib Fest.

This is the 10th year for the event hosted by the South Eastern Ohio Minority Business Association. The Rib Fest raises money for the organization to award scholarships to area youths. Some of the money raised goes to the Gant Foundation, Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation and the Zanesville Civic League. Organizers say putting the event together is tough and they are calling out to the Zanesville community to get more involved.

"It's a lot of hard work getting vendors together and getting the band and everything. The problem is we don't have enough big sponsors we need big sponsors,' said Chairperson, Ernie Bynum.

There are various jazz groups performing and plenty of food to snack on besides ribs.

"You got the big onion man behind you. He's got blooming onions, which are delicious, and this year we got a Mexican cart in here with tacos. This is the first time we had that," said Bynum.

The event often brings home around $9,000 each year and ran until midnight.
