A new dispatch center is currently under renovation at the Zanesville Police Department, and before it's completed, they want to make sure they have everything they need for the community to successfully contact dispatchers.

"What the city's concern is, the police department's concern is, how do we reach everybody in our community and we want to make sure that when we upgrade our dispatch center, that our hearing impaired community is also taken care of," said Coury.

Coury says he's hoping to hear from the community and the hearing impaired to find out what works best for them.

"Whether they're hearing impaired or not, they can come in and talk. There are agency's out there that deal strictly with the hearing impaired. So if somebody knows the technology and they know what we should have and we can afford it, we'll get it."
