This year's campaign message is "A day in the life." Executive Director Meg Deedrick says the message is a way to highlight and assure people who invest or donate, that the money donated to the United Way is at work each and every day of the year.
"We're looking to get people excited because we're about to launch our annual fundraising campaign," said Deedrick. "And again, before we ask for any other funds, we want to be sure they know how their past funds have been invested and the change that it's producing right now."
Investors, United Way staff and volunteers attended the fundraising campaign kick off at the Zanesville Country Club. Deedrick said it's the volunteers who will spend the upcoming months asking for donations.
"The thing that's unique about the United Way campaign is that, it is led by a volunteer and we have volunteers who work with us to raise the funds and we have volunteers that work with us to help invest the funds. So it truly is a community effort."
United Way Board President Blair Tom gave a speech at Tuesday's meeting, along with Matt Joseph who is this year's campaign chair
