The Affordable Care Act goes has a few requirements for businesses and the deadline is quickly approaching.

"The one that's coming up next week, by October 1st, every business has to have sent a notice in writing or email to their employees notifying them of the existence of the health insurance exchanges, or the health insurance marketplace," Executive Director of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce Tom Poorman.

Poorman said the notice won't cost your business much and says the process is simple and easy to complete. The chamber has "model notices" on their website to assist you in completing the requirement.

"We've tried to sort through the millions of documents and websites that are out there about this subject and reduce it down to a manageable number so that they can go to our website, get the information they need. We've linked to some leading websites around the country with the information about this subject, but we've paired it down so that it's a lot easier for them to sort through who's right, who's wrong and understand the law, understand the dates."

Poorman said after you send out the notice to each of your employees, you should read through the web pages and webinars on the chamber's website to help you understand the law. Although the links are for businesses, Poorman says they will help anyone who is interested in learning about the new law. You can find more information at and click "Affordable Care Act."
