Gallery G in the Masonic Temple Building has named a new artist for the month of October.
After finding a teacher nearly 13-years-ago who helped her improve her skills, Judy Ivoska now paints "whatever catches her eye."
"I've always done crafts, I've always loved them. But I've always been intimidated by painting and I tried to teach myself, it didn't work," said Ivoska. "So I looked for a new teacher and I found one; Priscilla Bridwell and she taught me how to open my eyes and actually see what I was looking at."
Ivoska started painting because she admired other painters and wanted to learn herself. She paints primarily with oils but says she's better when she's away from home.
"So if I can get away that's when I paint. And there's a group of us women that get together on Monday mornings and we paint for three hours. So that's where a lot of this has been born from,"
You can view her paintings at the G Gallery and at the First Friday Artwalk this Friday starting at 5 p.m.
