The Wilds is adding to its herd of Indian rhinos.

The Greater One Horned Rhino was born September 27 and is in pasture alongside mother Dailey.

The birth of the Indian Rhino is the fifth born at the Wilds and the third calf for 17-year-old Dailey and the second for 10-year-old sire Rustum.

The Director of Animal Management Dan Beetem said that while every calf is special this calf marks a new bloodline for the North American Breeding Program.

The calf will stay with the mother until she is needed to support the species survival plan.

The Indian Rhino has a single horn that grows to be eight to 24 inches long. They can grow to be over 4,800 pounds and 6 feet tall at their shoulder.
