Officials have identified the hunter who died after he accidentally shot himself.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources Spokesman Mark Bruce says 61-year-old Charles Terrill of Zanesville was riding his all terrain vehicle on private property near Wolfe Run Road in Muskingum County when his shotgun accidentally discharged.

Bruce says Terrill was not actively hunting at the time.

Family members discovered Terrill around 8:00 p.m. Sunday and called 911.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and then ODNR was called in to handle the investigation.
