Local NAACP Hosting Annual Freedom Fund Banquet

NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet

The Muskingum County branch of the NAACP is having a banquet to celebrate movers and shakers from the local community.

The 45th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet will take place next month. The event will feature food, awards and a special guest speaker. Paul Newman is a Zanesville native that moved to Flint, Michigan to start an impressive career.

"Paul is a retired executive with the General Motors Corporation and he had a very large resume," NAACP Muskingum County President, Kenneth Burke. We are proud of what Paul has done, he always comes back and gives back to the community. "

The organization will also present, NBA basketball star, Kevin Martin with the prestigious "Foot Soldier in the Sand" award for his dedication to improving the local community.

" Kevin has done a marvelous job in community, especially with the youth. Kevin is well deserving," said Burke. We lean towards youth and education and that's what our biggest thing is."

The dinner will take place on Saturday, November 2nd at Hallowed Hills on East Pike at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 dollars per person. The money raised will go towards providing two book donations for students entering college.
