During a meeting with the Muskingum County Commissioner's, MCBI President Larry Triplett updated the Commissioner's on the new businesses the MCBI working with and the new initiatives they're focused on.
"A couple of the new businesses are pretty exciting. As you've heard, we've got some that could scale up to be pretty good size companies, employing a lot of people in the area," said Triplett. "And then we talked a little bit about the Kitchen Incubator project that we're working on and that's something that Carol Humphrey's is working on pretty actively."
MCBI Executive Director Carol Humphreys says the Kitchen Incubator is primarily about food production. Because the agriculture industry is so vital to our area, Humphrey's says the group wanted to do something to help it grow.
"What we want to do is we want to help individuals who are maybe making products in their home, to be able to sell it outside of the state,: said Humphreys. "If you have a licensed facility that you produce your product in, then you are able to do so. The other thing is, we really are looking for sustainable and growing companies that actually have a product that's very popular that we might sell all over the United States."
The Kitchen Incubator would also provide internships to Zane State students in the culinary arts program. If you have a food production idea or want to learn more about the Kitchen Incubator project, you can contact the MCBI at 740-453-3649
