US Congressman, Pat Tiberi, stopped in Zanesville Monday afternoon, to visit two of the Y-City's healthcare providers.
Tiberi is the representative for the 12th district in Ohio which includes Licking and Muskingum counties. He first went to the Kidney Care Center of Zanesville and then toured Genesis Bethesda Hospital to be briefed on the progress of the massive construction and renovation project.
"Well obviously, this is a large employer, one of the largest employers not only in the county but the region,” Tiberi said. “Healtchare is a hot topic these days, and obviously you've got a lot of construction, a lot of change here at Genesis, so just came to get an update on what's happening here and how I can be helpful."
After Tiberi spoke with WHIZ, he met with Genesis CEO, Matthew Perry and was able to see two model patient hospital rooms. The completed examples showed Tiberi what type of care the hospital will be able to offer once the expansion and renovation is finished in June of 2015.
" Well having a quality healthcare facility in your community is obviously really important, buts even bigger than that, because of this region and the lack of facilities like this in this part of the state, Genesis obviously plays a pretty important role, not only just for Zanesville or Muskingum County but Southeastern Ohio so this is not only much needed but long overdue."
Matthew Perry says the renovation is on schedule and on budget.
