The men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our country will be honored at a special parade.
The annual Muskingum County Veteran's Day Parade will take place this Saturday at 10 a.m. The event will start at Secrest Auditorium and has more than 115 participants, President of the Muskingum County Veteran's Council and Vietnam Veteran , Bud Johnson says the public can expect a great event this year.
"People can expect to see veterans, which is what it's about, horses, dogs and politicians..how do you get away from a politician in a parade.. old cars and scout groups, I got 14 or 15 scout groups in it," said Johnson.
Johnson says that people aren't aware of the sacrifices veterans make to keep the country safe and how much it affects them when they are acknowledged for their courage.
"I would just like to see a whole lots of people come out and view the parade because the spectator is as big of a part of this parade as anything because when a veteran sees a number of people out there they know they've come out to honor them and it makes them feel that much better, " said Johnson.
If you can't make it to the parade on Saturday, Johnson encourages the public to come out to the Muskingum County Veteran's Hall of Fame Induction on Sunday at Secrest Auditorium at 4 p.m. The event will feature food, music and entertainment and is free to the public. Also, WHIZ TV will air the parade on Monday at noon.
