2013 Hometown Heroes

The Muskingum Valley Chapter of the Red Cross is getting ready for the 8th Annual Hometown Heroes Breakfast. Every year, dozens of people are nominated, but only 13 heroes are chosen. Executive Director Marlene Henderson said the event started as a way to give back to those who do good in the community.

"This is such a feel good breakfast," explained Henderson. "You literally walk out of there, at least I do, walking on air because it is so great to know with everything else going on in this world, that there are truly people that have made a difference in somebody's life, the community's lives and hearing their stories, it's just overwhelming."

Tickets for the breakfast, which is being held at North Terrace Church of Christ Friday, Nov. 8, are $15 per person or $150 to reserve a table for 8.

"We usually start the program at 7:45 a.m. and it's listening to all these wonderful people. Their nominators will be there actually video taped, but will also be there in person to hand them their award."
