Wednesday Zanesville High School the community came together to support the football team with some school spirit at an exciting pep rally.
“We will see you guys on Friday, go blue," said Head Coach Chad Grandstaff.
The Blue Devils continue to head down the road to the state championship with their game this Friday and to show how proud the Y City is of the team. Many came out to a pep rally on a chilly yet a thrilling night.
"It was great having everybody out here and supporting us,” said Wide Receiver, JT McFarland. “It's good to know that everyone is out here and following us even if we are out on the road."
"It was nice to see the fans, come out and support The Blue Devils,” added Grandstaff. “We really do appreciate everything that the fans do for us, and the band and the cheerleaders. and the devilettes and it's nice to get them out here on a cold Wednesday night, and see our boys before they go into battle on Friday."
The festivities included a video with highlights from this season, fight songs from the band and of course pumped up cheers.
"We just have to try to get everybody up and cheer and tell them to get up on their feet," said Cheerleading Captain, Paige Coss.
This is the first time Zanesville has been in a playoff championship since 1978 and there is plenty to cheer about as they inch closer to a state title.
"It's great for the whole town, it's just kind of brings a breath of fresh air, brings a lot of spirit and excitement to the city of Zanesville and obviously our school and our faculty and obviously the players and our program, " Grandstaff explained.
"We are all around just pretty pumped, Coss said. “It's really great that we've made it this far."
The Blue Devils will challenge New Albany on the gridiron, in hopes to get the final four this Friday at 7:30 at St. Francis DeSales in Columbus.
"This week has been really focused and we are going to stay focused until tomorrow, finish things up and test things up,” said Mcfarland of the teams game plan. “We are looking good.”
