A few area choirs came together to make a joyful noise Sunday evening at the 24th Annual Zanesville Handbell Festival.
The concert was sponsored by the Thursday Music Club and took place in front of a full house at Grace United Church on Shinnick Street. The performers played a variety of holiday and sacred tunes for the public.
"We will be playing five numbers with all of these handbell groups that you see, there are six handbell groups so some of our numbers are done with all six groups playing at once, that's about 80 members playing at the same time and then each individual church groups will be playing two numbers of their own, " said Grace United Church Choir Director, Jim Mayercak.
Along with the adult choirs playing, the children's choir also a song for the crowd. Mayercak says his favorite part about the concert is bringing all the different people of all age groups together to make wonderful music.
'It's not only a learning experience for the ringers putting everyone together and working with the great clinician we have tonight and conductor, but just the fellowship and making it all work together smoothly," said Mayercak.
Sunday's concert was free and open to the public.
