With the holidays quickly approaching the Animal Shelter Society of Muskingum County is hosting a few special events.
Coming up on Saturday, December 7th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the shelter will have their annual Christmas open house and the public is encouraged to join them for a day packed full with activities.
"We will be having crafts for kids, our veterinarian will be giving some educational information throughout the day. We will also have cookies and punch and we are also going to have some special adoptions that day," said Rescue Coordinator, Charity Stevens.
Currently the shelter has cats, dogs and small critters up for sale. Stevens says that the small critter population has grown recently and they would like to find these easy to care for animals good homes for the holidays.
"We are getting an abundance of small critters," said Stevens. " We have two rabbits currently and approximately 10 to 12 hamsters and then we also have one really friendly rat that are all available for adoption."
Along with these adoption specials, this Friday will be last "Black Cat Friday" where the first five people to adopt black cats will only pay $15. The cats are spayed,neutered and vaccinated and are ready to be place in a loving home.
