The Muskingum County Commissioners welcomed the newest addition to the Ohio State Extension Office to our county on Monday.
Michelle Fehr is a Guernsey County native and the newly appointed 4H Extension Coordinator for Muskingum County, before accepting her current position she served as an Extension Program Coordinator in Belmont County for seven years. She graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor's in Agriculture Education and a Master's in Extension Education. She says she is excited to start working and that she enjoyed her first day on the job.
"It was fantastic," said Fehr. " I spent the morning getting to know a little more about the 4H program and how the extension program in general works and then I was able to come and meet the county commissioners which was very exciting."
While at the commissioner's office Fehr and the commissioners swapped farming stories, where she mentioned her involvement in both the Future Farmers of America and 4H programs as a youth. She says that Muskingum County's youth programs are what initially attracted her to the job.
" I was very interested in the number of youth that they have in the program, they have over 1,800 youth and over 300 hundred volunteers so it's a large program with a large interest in live stock and I have an interest in live stock as well and I am excited to get to work with a bigger program with more people volunteers and youth a like, " said Fehr.
Fehr says she is ready to get involved in the decision making processes that the job offers and wants to thank Muskingum County for their warm welcome.
