Sebastian's Journey

A bee pollen company and a South Zanesville family are asking for your help this Christmas season.

Shannon Longstreth's 22-month-old son, Sebastian suffers from Downs Syndrome and a disease called Tracheomalacia where he is fed through his stomach. As Sebastian grows, he needs a new special needs bed, one that costs thousands of dollars.

"Sebastian desperately needs a special needs bed. Due to the fact that he is vented and he has a trache, he thrashes a lot in his crib," said Longstreth. "Therefore, pulling his trache out and we're in big trouble when that happens. So we're trying to raise some money and some awareness for Downs Syndrome as well."

Danielle Frank, who is a distributor for Bee-Fit bee pollen, has been following Sebastian's journey from the start and says she wanted to do something to help Sebastian and his family and decided to have Bee-Fit sponsor a Christmas bazaar to help raise money for the bed Sebastian needs.

"I have about 25 vendors that will be here on Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. set up selling all kinds of items from Avon to Thirty One and homemade crafts and tutus," said Frank. "We also have a silent auction. We've received donations from the community and then we'll also be doing a 50/50 event."

Donations are still being accepted for the silent auction. You can contact Danielle Frank at 740-624-4996 if you're interested in donating an item. The Longstreth family and Home Healthcare Alliance of Ohio will also be holding a canned food drive at the Christmas bazaar for flood victims in Perry County. If you bring four non-perishable food items, you'll receive a "Sebastian's Journey" bracelet. The Christmas bazaar will be held at Hallowed Hills campground Sunday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
