Donations To The Salvation Army

Keeping kids warm for the winter becomes a major goal for one local business.

Friday, representatives of Terry's Tavern presented the Salvation Army, on behalf of the tavern and its patrons, with a $1,000  for their "Coats for Kids Campaign." The money raised through various fundraisers and donations held by Terry's over the last six months. This is the second year they've donated to the program.

"Over the year's we've been involved with the Salvation Army in numerous fundraisers and last year we wanted to do something for kids around Christmas and we talked to the Salvation Army and they said they had a program that they needed help funding fro coats for kids." explained Tim Arnold from Terry's Tavern.

Major Diane Campbell said seeing a business like Terry's step up and fulfill a need softens the heart.

"It's amazing and a privilege because they want to partner with us to be able to help the children of our community, so I think when someone wants to partner with you it's an honor," said Campbell.

This year the Coats for Kids program gave out over 990 coats with the community support. They'll begin purchasing for the fall of 2014 in January and February.
