If you are like many Americans and you have waited until the last minute to finish your holiday shopping then you're not alone. Saturday at the Colony Square Mall, employees and management say that the mall has been packed in the days before Christmas. This means a boost in sales and revenue in the local economy.
"It's great actually. The last three weeks, four weeks we've increased sales tremendously actually we are staying open later and it will stay like this until February," said Garfield's Manager, James Hart.
"There's been a lot of last minute shoppers. A lot of traffic coming in and out of the mall.. a lot of people were excited about our sales going on today," said Cardboard Heroes' Manager, Jeremy Matthews.
"Today we didn't think it was going to pick up, but then as soon as everyone got back from church.. boom there was a lot of people out in the mall, " said Shoe Sensation Sales Associate, Ron Adolph.
Many shoppers say that family obligations, lack of time and working extra hours before the holiday caused them to push their holiday shopping back. With only 3 days left until Christmas they say are rushing to get their last minute gifts.
"I was very busy at work. We were extremely busy. We did like 600 guest yesterday and it's hard to find time to go holiday shopping because of serving all those customers and stuff but I tried to come in the last couple of days and finish up," said Andrew Norris.
I literally bought one person a gift and then I bought myself some shoes so I have to buy stuff for my step dad today maybe Cleveland browns stuff, " said Latisha Cordle.
Shoppers out on Sunday say that popular gifts under this year's tree included clothing, electronics and video games for the kids.
