A pot bellied pig that was found Wednesday morning at Riverside Park in Zanesville is making herself at home at the local animal shelter.
The staff at the Animal Shelter Society of Muskingum County has officially named her Elsie. She has her own room, she eats for free and is receiving plenty of attention these days.
"There's actually pot bellied big food so we went out and bought a bag yesterday. We have her in one of our large walk in kennels and she has a little bed in there so she slept all afternoon yesterday," said Executive Director, Jody Murray.
Murray believes she was once a pet by her calm and welcoming demeanor. Staff workers hope to find her owner if not she will be available for adoption. Before you attempt to take her home there are rules that the city says you must abide by.
"As far as someone adopting her or taking her home it's my understanding that if you live within the city of Zanesville that's against code so you would not be able to that. You must be outside the city limits of Zanesville, " said Murray.
Zanesville Police Lieutenant, Bill Shaw says he posted a picture of the pig on the police department Facebook page and in 27 hours it has received more than 16,000 hits from across the world.
