Board members for the Muskingum County Center for Seniors met with the county commissioners to talk about the progress being made towards building a new facility.
Executive Director, Terry Dunn says that the group has worked on ideas for the center for the past five years and they are finally in talks with architects to make it happen.
"We've been working with an architect, we have gone through all of our SOQ's and we have chosen Addis, Davis and Van Wey (ADV) as our architect, as our design architects, we've had several meeting with them," said Dunn.
The board has also called on outside help to design the new center from a company named Lifespan. Some of their ideas include the addition of senior friendly stairs and using colors to help guide visitors throughout the building. Currently they are working to get a senior center levy on the ballot for this November.
"That's what our plan is now. We do not and can not even state what the millage will be, but I will make the promise that we will only ask for what we need and it will be a facility that will serve all the seniors of Muskingum County," said Dunn.
Until then, they are working on side projects including surveying land, soil sampling and preliminary designing.
