Zanesville City Street crews had their hands full dealing with this weekend blast of winter.
Street Superintendent, Jeff Shook says that his 13 man team alternates days and nights to plow and salt the roads.. He says they have a plan of action and follows it to ensure the highest amount of safety for the largest amount of Zanesville residents.
"We always do our main drags first. Those are the highly traveled areas, then we will go to our hill streets and we will clean them and salt them. We will do our secondary streets and flat streets last, " said Shook.
Shook says that people living on secondary streets and alleys that have not been plowed should try to stay home as much as possible, until his team has time to reach them . If they do decide to leave the home they are urged to slow down and watch out for city workers.
"While you're traveling, if you're traveling out there make sure you stay back from the salt trucks so they can see you it's a safety hazard if people get behind them when they are spreading salt like that, " said Shook.
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to give the street department a call at 740-455-0615 and they will try to accomodate your request in order of priority.
