A group of about eight women at Primrose Retirement Community have spent the last two months making fleece blankets for Transitions, a domestic violence shelter that serves women and children in Muskingum, Morgan and Perry counties.
"We really wanted to do something for the community," said Christine Ross, activities director at Primrose. "The ladies here they just like to do stuff for outside so that way they have something to do and plus it always helps the community."
Activity director Tammy Grayson said the women who helped make the blankets are all retired professionals like teachers and accountants, and said "this is a way for them to continue giving."
"We're just looking forward to other projects to do for the community," said Grayson. "We'll be more than happy to help Transitions further maybe collecting toiletry items and paper supplies for them."
Grayson said they also plan on starting their teddy bear project again for children who stay at Transitions and at the hospital. For more information about Primrose you can go to www.primroseretirement.com, and to learn about Transitions, you can call their 24 hour hotline at 740-454-3212.
