On Tuesday, Riesbeck's in South Zanesville kicked off their annual Paczki celebration with Polka music. Riesbeck's Events Coordinator, Jane Dombroski, said the tradition started back in 1998 when the store's bakery director, John Chickery, came up with the idea to start selling the Polish donuts.
"The Paczki is coming out for the Easter season which is very , very popular with people in the community and we just wanted to bring in some music with Mr. Ray Galla, he is here today. He is an accordionist and just make it a fun-filled atmosphere highlighting the Paczki," said Dombroski.
Lemon, pumpkin, chocolate, apricot and peanut butter are just a few of the many flavors you can choose from. But Dombroski said each year, there are three main flavors that always fly off the shelves.
"We always get asked all the time, 'ok, which is the favorite, which is what people grab for?' And it's prune, Bavarian creme and raspberry seem to be the favorites."
Paczki's are available at every Riesbeck's location through March. After that, they will be available March 7-9 and then you'll have to wait until next year.
