Cambridge Police made two arrests for drugs following a traffic stop.

Authorities said it started on Highland Avenue around 2p.m. Thursday when officers pulled over a vehicle for a cracked windshield and a traffic violation.

When police questioned the 21-year-old and 28-year-old men, from Cleveland, they gave conflicting accounts of why they were in town.

A police K-9 was brought in and gave a positive indication for drugs. A search of the vehicle recovered a small amount of a substance that tested positive for cocaine.

During the search police said they saw one of the men slip something into his mouth. The suspects were taken to the Guernsey County Jail where officers found a package hiding within the body of one of the suspects.

When they attempted to remove the package the suspect tried to destroy the evidence, fighting with jailers and police.

Authorities said the package contained heroin. The man was transported to Southeastern Med for safety precautions. The pair remain in custody.
