The Democratic Candidate for Lieutenant Governor, and Dayton area native Sharen Nuehardt visited Zanesville on Saturday.
Nuehardt is the running mate of gubernatorial candidate, Ed Fitzgerald and on Saturday she talked to Zanesville residents at the democratic party building downtown. During her speech she highlighted the loss of funding for education in Muskingum County and the entire state of Ohio. She blames governor Kasich's budget cuts for the loss.
"Eight million dollars cuts to schools that John Kasich has made are devastating to the future of the county," said Nuehardt.
Along with discussing education, Nuehardt touched on topics such as women's rights and strengthening the middle class. She says she started from humble beginnings and wants to see others have access the same opportunities.
" I am the first person on either side of the family to go to college and this whole idea of the american dream and making it possible for Ohio boys and girls growing up today to have the same opportunities I had is important to me," said Nuehardt.
At the end of her speech visitors were allowed to ask questions on her stances. She will visit Toledo and Lima on Sunday.
