Miss Ohio travels to our area to encourage the youth.
24-year-old Miss Ohio, Heather Wells visited Zane Grey Elementary earlier on Thursday to talk to third graders about motivation and perseverance. She says through competing she has learned those qualities are integral to succeeding in the future.
"It took me six tries to win and this past year in June I finally did it, said Wells. I won the title and I just been loving this year and getting to share my story of perseverance and of determination and never quitting and it really paid off in the end. "
She also got the chance to talk to children about growing up as a child and her pageant platform. A topic that she holds dear to heart.
"My platform is divorce recovery for youth. My parents were divorced when I was 2 -years- old and I struggled with understanding what divorces meant for family and I often blamed myself for my parents divorce. "
Wells says she is enjoying Zanesville and has already had the chance to visit some famous stops including Tom's Ice Cream Bowl and the Y-ridge. She says once she finishes her duties as Miss Ohio she hopes to use her broadcast journalism degree to land a career in media.
