Planning for the 28th Carr Center Cake auction is already underway and organizers are asking you to get involved.
Each year the center puts on the cake auction to raise money for their ten youth and senior based programs. Executive Director of the center, Kim Hosler says the money helps the center to provide the best service for their guests who participate in the educational workshops.
"The one community knows us for the best is the speech therapy program and we take children that are very young and actually bring them into a speech program that allows them to develop communication skills, " Said Hosler.
This year the theme of the cake auction is serving generations to highlight the Carr Center's involvement in the community for the past 58 years. Hosler says this time around they are giving newcomers an easy way to get involved.
" If they would like to participate in the auction this year we do have and incentive for people that have not participated in the last couple of years or if you're a first timer. We have 28 cakes that Bill Bird has donated from Zandex to the center and they are made to order cakes, " said Hosler.
All an individual is asked to do is provide an incentive to go along with the cake. Last year the Carr Center raised more than $ 130,000 for the organization.
