The first day of the Buckeye Valley Building Industry Association's annual Home and Garden show took place on Friday at Eagle Sticks Golf Course.
This year the theme of the show was passport to savings. Each visitors received a mock passport that they had to have stamped by various vendors throughout the tent. Once they were done guests were able to put their name in a special drawing that will be picked once the show commences. The theme aims to get participants to each booth to see what the show has to offer this year.
"Landscaping is really big this year. We have a gentleman here with the generators, we've partnered up with Mid East Career Centers and they are here with us. AEP, They are here to talk to everyone about saving energy, " said BIA Executive Officer, Tricia Anderson.
Anderson says the proceeds from the show will go towards Operation Spirit an organization that helps local military families send care packages to their loved one's overseas.
"All of it will go towards them. It's free admission, free parking. What we have asked the public to do is just bring in no chocolate snack items.. nuts, candy to help operation feed also if they don't have it, we have a donation box to go and get the items they are needing," said Anderson.
If you missed the show it will run again on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
