After three and a half months working as the Interim Chief of the Zanesville Police Department, Kenneth Miller was officially sworn in as Police Chief of the department.
Community leaders, officers and Miller's family members all met at the Zanesville City Hall Building Friday afternoon to witness the swearing in ceremony. Chief Miller says that this is a proud moment in his life.
"I've been on the department for over 33 years, so I've invested a lot of my life to doing this work so it does mean a lot to me, the community and trying to improve it," said Chief Miller.
One way he hopes to improve the community is by taking on Zanesville's growing drug problem one investigation at a time. He says some of his officers were unable to attend the ceremony because they were performing a drug bust at 319 Mead Street at the same exact time.
" Once we got in there we did arrest four males inside the house. We recovered some drugs, money and a sawed off shot gun," said Chief Miller.
Unspecified amounts of cocaine, crack and marijuana were found at the residence. Chief Miller suspects that there will be felony charges filed. The invesitgation remains open and is ongoing.
