A local organization is the recipient of a $2,500 award that will be used to benefit children in our area.
After winning the America's Farmer's Grow Communities initiative this past fall, Local Fairfield Farmer, Joyce Blosser was given a choice to donate the money to a Non Profit Organization of her choice. She chose to support the Ohio State Grange Charitable Foundation at the Friendly Hills Grange Camp in Zanesville.
"It makes me feel really good." said Blosser. My family has been grange members for quite a few years going back through our grandparents on each side of our families and we've been very active throughout the years on all levels of the state, local and national grange."
Throughout the year the camp hosts hundreds of children and aims to teach campers important life skills. Camp organizers will use the donation to improve the facility and programs for future guests.
"This is a great donation because we are always looking for money for the mini projects that camp offers. The camp is 35 years old so a lot of our infrastructure is needing repaired. We are doing a lot of landscaping involving the children that come to camp," said Ohio Grange Charitable Foundation President, Patty Dyer.
Dyer says she is grateful for the donation and encourages more organizations to come out to visit the Friendly Grange Camp.
