In White Cottage it was a day of remembering a community leader who tragically died this past weekend after an auto accident.

76-year-old Bill Thompson, owner of William Thompson and Son Funeral Home, died Saturday.  He made a huge impression on everyone he came in contact with, whether at his funeral home or within the many organizations he gave his time and talents too.

Bill graduated from Zanesville High School, Muskingum College and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.  He was the former president of the Maysville Local School Board, former president of the Board of Trustees of Zane State College and was a member of the Bethesda Hospital Board of Directors to name a few.

Calling hours continue until 8 pm Wednesday.  The funeral is set for Thursday at 10:30 am.  Thompson will be laid to rest at Wesley Union Cemetery, which he will take his final ride in the family’s horse-drawn hearse.
