Some students at Tri-Valley High School learned a real-life lesson on the dangers of drinking and driving during a mock accident on Thursday.

In hopes of keeping students from making bad decisions on prom night, every other year, local law enforcement officials, students and the faculty at the school work together to show prom goers what could happen if they drink and drive.

" Every year around this time we remind students to make responsible decisions. We want them to be smart about what they are doing and I know it's hard with peer pressure. but that's why we bring this to life," said Tri-Valley Principal, Chad Shawger.

Shawger says if the program saves one life it was worth the time out of the classroom. He says he would like to thank the community for making this event possible.

" Everybody has been great. The State Highway Patrol, the Dresden Police Department, the local fire station pretty much a community effort as well as life flight so it was a real experience for the kids, " said Shawger.

Students also had the chance to see just how long it takes for emergency response teams to reach the scene of a serious accident.
