RUN 4 GRANT

The 3rd annual Run 4 Grant 5K is set for this weekend. Organizers are inviting you to come out to remember and celebrate the life of former Zanesville High School student, Grant Hickman.

Hickman died nearly three years ago, but lives on through a fundraiser started by his parents. This year, there will be a silent auction, music and even a more accessible course for runners of all ages. The money raised will go towards the Grant Hickman Foundation that awards scholarship money to area high school students.

"Grant is unable to fulfill his dreams and he had friends from all high schools. It was a standing joke at our house, which group of friends is going to be there and we would never know," said Beth Hickman, Grant's mother.

Last year organizers raised nearly $19,000 for the foundation and have since given out more than 20 scholarships. They hope to raise even more this year through a variety of community events.

" This year what's going be different is, it's not going to be just the race this year. We are going have different events around Christmas and different ways to keep the name of Grant going all year around. People talk about him on their Facebook, their Twitter, Instagram still everyday and we want to keep that going, " said Alainna Durfee, Organizer.

If you would like to register or pick up a Run 4 Grant t-shirt you can visit Zanesville High School this Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. or on Saturday before the race at 7:30 a.m. Registration is $20 dollars per person and the run will talk place at Sulsberger Stadium.
