A local man dies in an early evening motorcycle accident.

According to the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, troopers were dispatched to State Route 555 near Boat Dock Road in reference to an one vehicle injury accident.

Once on the scene they discovered that Martin Dunlap, 50 of Roseville and his passenger Sophia Dipietro, 35 were traveling northbound when Dunlap failed to negotiate the curve causing the bike to veer off of the right side of the road.

The bike hit an arrow sign ejecting both parties. Dunlap was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he eventually passed away due to his injuries. The female passenger is expected to recover. According to Sgt. Melanie Appleman alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash. South Zanesville Fire Department and local EMS crews also assisted on the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

LifeFlight was called to the scene but due to the severity of the injuries were not able to transport Dunlap.
