Zanesville's ForeverDads group wants to help area kids give Dad the All Star treatment this Father's Day weekend.
The 11th annual All Star Dads event will take place at the Muskingum County Y on Adams Lane Saturday. With many fathers often busy with work and other obligations, organizers say the event is a great way to carve out some time for dads to spend with their kids.
"The ForeverDads tries to incorporate that by bringing these special events and planning things for them to do and giving them options so they can spend, even if it's just an hour of time, with their child," said Lee Ann Brune, a ForeverDads volunteer. "That can strengthen the relationships and bonds between fathers, sons, and daughters."
The activities begin at 10 a.m. and continue through 2 p.m. with an open swim until 7 p.m. In addition to door prizes and swimming, coordinator Doug Gates said there will be plenty to do.
"We have a giant six foot cage ball," Gates said. "We have blind man's volleyball, a lot parachutes, target activities, and a lot of sports in the afternoon where the kids and fathers will get wet. So we've got a lot of things planned."
The event is free to fathers and just one dollar for kids. Money from the event goes back to help fund programs at the Y.
