Father's Day may be on Sunday, but several area dads decided to celebrate one day early.
ForeverDads hosted their 11th annual All Star Dads Day at the Muskingum Family Y beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Fred Matthews is a proud father who has spent the last 34 years helping coach area youth. He said events like this are a great way to show support for local kids.
"The park's full of kids," Matthews said. "And like I say, this is these kids' Kings Island, Cedar Point, the zoo--they don't get to do a lot of that stuff, so we try to accommodate them here. I'm proud to be able to be a part of this."
Dads got in to the event for free while children were just a dollar. A lunch was included as well as swimming and a wide range of activities. Jim Stant of Zanesville said All Star Dads Day was a great way for him to have some fun spending time with his two boys.
"I just think it's a great thing they do," said Stant. "It kind of brings everybody together in the community and lets them know what everything's all about out here. You've got a lot of people out here doing some fun activities. You've got a bounce house, go karts, a lot of other things to do. It's a great way to spend time with your sons."
