Hannah McClellan, a 14 year old girl diagnosed with Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG), a rare genitic disorder, had a dream to ride in a police car with the lights and sirens on.
Thanks to the Crooksville Police Department and community, Hannah's wish became a reality Saturday. Not only this, but she also got to handcuff her uncle, lead the way in the towns fourth of july parade, become an honorary police officer and have a day named in her honor. Amy McClellan, Hannah's mom, says to see the community turn out for this event brings her happiness.
"It makes me so happy. It touches my heart that everybody remembers us and just remembers how special hannah is and loves her so much. It just it makes me so happy."
McClellan says her daughter was "elated" to get to have this experience this afternoon. Hannah has always liked the idea of being a police officer.
McClellan says, "She's always liked being a cop. Thats what she is for halloween. She was a cop. SWAT. She does something like that every year. So, thats just her passion."
McClellan says that Hannah is feeling "total elation" to have experienced her dream. If you would like to donate to help with CDG research, you can visit the website: www.firework5k.com
