All churches have at least slightly different beliefs, but that doesn't mean they can't come together for a night of community fun.
Four local downtown churches will be hosting a block party on Saturday, July 19th at the corner of Seventh and South Street in downtown Zanesville. The event will be hosted by Central Trinity United Methodist Church, Union Baptist, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran, and Immanuel United Church of Christ. All the fun begins at 3:00 p.m and runs through 8:00 p.m. that evening.
"We're going to have games, crafts and face-painting," said Candice Hoover, Evangelism Committee Chairperson. "We are going to have the safety town over at Trinity Lutheran Church. We're going to have door prizes. We're going to have hot dogs and popcorn."
A kiddie tractor pull with prizes will also be featured beginning at 5:00 p.m. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. a sing-spiration will be held inside of Central Trinity where special musical performances by all four churches will be held. Tom's Ice Cream will also be served during the festivities.
"I'm thrilled about this opportunity for all four churches to work together publicly," said Jim McLaughlin, Central Trinity's former Director of Music. "We've been doing it sort of privately, but I think it's going to lead to a great powerhouse on this corner in downtown Zanesville."
The event is free and open to the public, but you can bring a canned food item to be donated to a local pantry. They hope to make this event the first of many in the coming years.
